Description: A hidden gem where you can count more than 30 species of birds including 17 different types of hummingbirds. Get so close to these amazing animals that even cellphone pictures are crystal clear!

Difficulty: Short, natural walking paths of low difficulty are available on the property.
Accessibility: This tour is for all ages. Walk the short paths around the observatory or simply sit by the hammocks and wait for the birds to fly by. We are happy to arrange a customized tour for you should you have a visual/hearing impairment.
Duration: The total tour time is 6 hours from start to finish with 3 hours of birdwatching time.
Location: Located about 1 hour North East of Bogotá at 3000 m.a.s.l., surrounded by high andean cloud forest.
Elevation: The observatory sits at 3000 m.a.s.l.
Weather: The average temperature is 14ºC with lows of 10ºC when is cloudy. About 30% of the time we visit here we experience light rain and about 10% of the time we see heavy rain.
Covid-19: La Calera has had low exposure to Covid-19 so we ask all visitors to follow strict safety protocols. We are expected to wear masks inside the vehicle. We will also desinfect hands and shoes at every stop.
Includes: Private 4x4 transport from Bogotá, entrances, 3 hours of birdwatching at the hummingbird observatory and access to identification materials.
